About The Midland Community Network

Midland Online is a project within a TIF (Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund) grant for community networking. The objectives of the community networking grant are to:

Make technology available to underserved neighborhoods. This is being accomplished through the development of Community Technology Centers (CTC). Midland College, Midland Independent School District and other community organizations will help each CTC develop technology competency programs individually tailored for their clientele. Computer-based informational Kiosks will be placed around the city. These Kiosks will allow visitors, and residents both to discover basic information about the city, the agencies of government in the city and county and the social service organizations in the communities.

The Midland Online web portal will provide a first contact point and a home on the Internet for CTCs and other Midland residents. The portal will provide free e-mail and free web pages for individuals. Additionally it will provide web pages or access to web pages for local government, social service, businesses, and a gateway to the Internet.
